New - The EACI-newsletter

march, 2005

The European Association of Creativity and Innovation is proud to present the first EACI-newsletter. As part of our mission to contribute to a better understanding, practice and acceptance of creativity and innovation management in Europe, we hope that this letter will support our virtual network. The two-months letter will keep you updated on EACI-related activities and topics.

ECCI-9, ‘Transformation’

Transformation will be the theme of the 9th European Conference on Creativity and Innovation (ECCI-9). Transformation as theme is inspired by the country which is hosting the conference. Poland made an impressive transformation from a former inward looking Eastern block country to a new vibrant member state of the European Community. ECCI-9 will be organised by the Academy of Humanities and Economics (WSHE) in Lodz, Poland. The conference will be held from Sunday September 4, 2005 till Thursday September 8, 2005.

To register please fill in the form at the ECCI-9 website.

30 Academic papers!

The European Association for Creativity and Innovation (EACI) is very pleased to announce that 30 academic researchers delivered a paper on creativity and/or innovation for the coming conference. All academic papers will be presented at the conference in a “60-minutes-session” format, including discussion. The number of papers and the diversity of topics have raised good expectations for the success of the conference. The best academic papers will be published.

Half Time score of the Best Publication – Vote before the 15th of April!

The EACI intends to present two awards at the conference, one for the best book on creativity (provisional name: Osborn Award) and the other for the best book on innovation (provisional name: Schumpeter Award). The EACI-website provides two separate lists of potential award winning publications on which visitors can vote.

A look at the preliminary votes show that, in the race for the Schumpeter Award, Chesbrough’s ‘Open innovation’ is doing very well closely followed by Kelley’s ‘The art of Innovation’. A shared first postion for the Osborn Award is taken by Isaksen’s ‘Facilitative leadership’ and De Bono’s ‘New thinking for the new millenium’. Until 15 April you can affect this half-time score by voting your favourite publications. The authors of the winning publications will be invited to the conference to receive their award.
